Information
Regarding Terrorism

For the Dwelling Properties and Personal & Premises Liability (GL-600) programs, AAIS has filed only materials regarding "certified" terrorism loss. For an act of terrorism to be certified by the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury (and thus trigger coverage under the Act), it must cause more than $5 million in losses and be inspired, directed, and/or carried out on behalf of a foreign person or interest.

Endorsement FL 0670 and the Certified Terrorism Loss Manual Supplement have been filed solely for use with policies covering premises regularly rented or held for rental to others for residential purposes. The endorsement covers certified terrorism loss and includes provisions for fulfilling the line item disclosure notice requirements of the Act. The provisions of the endorsement apply only in the event that the Secretary of the Treasury determines that the exposures covered by such policies are subject to the Act.

AAIS has not filed materials that enable a policyholder to reject, nor a company to exclude, coverage for certified terrorism loss.

Unless special company action is described in the charts below, the company action for affiliated companies that have granted AAIS filing authorization is as follows.

Endorsement: Companies can adopt the endorsement without notifying the insurance department.

Rules: Companies can adopt the manual supplement without notifying the insurance department.

When special company action is necessary, the insurance department may have procedures in place for the expedited handling of such filings. Refer to the page on this Web site that describes the filing action needed for all other (commercial) lines of insurance in that jurisdiction for more information.
