EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Web Seminars

From time to time, AAIS staff specialists do web-based presentations on insurance topics and AAIS products.

Without leaving their offices, "attendees" can see Microsoft PowerPoint presentations over the Web while listening to commentary over their telephones. Participants have opportunities to raise questions verbally or through an online "chat" function.

To date, the seminars have been offered free of charge to property/casualty professionals both inside and outside of AAIS members companies. Seminar topics have been:

  • Commercial Liability Endorsements Addressing Mold and Construction Defects

  • The Commercial Output Program, version 3.0

  • Identify Fraud Expense Coverage

  • Compliance with the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act of 2002

  • Electronic Data Processing coverage forms

  • Boatowners Insurance

  • Personal Lines Mold Endorsements

  • Personal Umbrella Endorsements

  • Personal, Farm, and Commercial Umbrella overviews

  • The 2004 AAIS Businessowners Program revision

  • The 2004 Inland Marine Guide revision and filing action

  • Automated inland marine rating worksheets

  • Identifying and Insuring Web Site Exposures

Educational Materials

AAIS provides training materials to companies affiliated for its programs, and to state agent associations. These materials, provided free of charge, are ideal for training underwriting, marketing, and claims staff, as well as agents, to use AAIS programs.

The materials were developed and/or updated by Bob Prahl, former AAIS education director, who wrote extensively on insurance coverage for the FC&S Bulletins, the Insurance Institute of America, industry publications, and company training materials over a career that spanned more than 30 years. He is now retired.

The education binders typically include:

  • Detailed descriptions of AAIS coverages

  • Comparisons of AAIS and other industry forms

  • Sample declarations pages and principal forms

  • Rating examples

  • Questions and answers trainers can use to generate discussion
