RHODE ISLAND AMENDS BASIC PROPERTY INSURANCE DEFINITION
SB 281, effective Jan. 1, 2004, adds liability coverage for 1 to 4 family dwellings to
this definition making these policies subject to specific cancellation requirements. AAIS
will be taking action to address this change in the near future.

HIGHLIGHTS OF TORT LIABILITY PRESENTATION
Problems with the tort liability system as well as efforts to reform the system were
discussed by AAIS education director Robert Prahl at the recent conference of the Illinois
Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (IAMIC). In addition, potential new liability
issues and loss statistics concerning household hazards of concern to insurers were also
noted.

Association.
