WHEATON, Ill., Jan. 26, 2005—Seven organizations that provide reinsurance or software services have signed up as the first associate members of the American Association of Insurance Services (AAIS), a national advisory organization that develops policy forms and rating information used by more than 600 property/casualty companies.

As associate members, service providers that support AAIS member companies can access AAIS product information--including policy forms, manuals, bulletins, and educational materials--through the AAISdirect Internet service.

In addition, associate members can participate in AAIS Web-based seminars restricted to members and associate members. These seminars feature AAIS staff specialists addressing new product developments and emerging industry issues.

“We use AAISdirect for general research on emerging issues as well as day-to-day questions,” says Laura Allison, underwriter for Gen Re, Stamford, Conn., one of the seven new associate member companies. “Access to this information enables us to stay current with the programs our clients are using so that we can serve them more efficiently and effectively.”

In addition to Gen Re, the other new associate members to date are:

  • Farmers Mutual Hail Ins. Co., Des Moines, Iowa;

  • GE Reinsurance, Barrington, Ill.;

  • The Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection & Ins. Co., Hartford, Conn.;

  • Insurity Software Co., Hartford, Conn.;

  • Results International Systems, Worthington, Ohio; and

  • Town and Country Computer Services, Schenectady, N. Y.

(Also, Garvin-Allen Solutions Limited, Halifax, N.S., became an associate member very soon after this release was posted to the Web, but was included in the release transmitted to industry publications.)

Claims adjustors, trainers, technical writers, and other risk-related services are also eligible to become AAIS associate members.

"Associate membership is a valuable new way for companies to reach the unique AAIS market of regional and specialty insurers, as well as departments of major national carriers," says Joyce Tignino, AAIS vice president of marketing and industry relations.

In addition to accessing product information, AAIS associate members are given opportunities to promote their services through AAIS press releases, Viewpoint magazine, Annual Conference, and AAIS Advisory e-mail newsletter.

For information on becoming an AAIS associate member, contact Rick Maka, director of marketing, at rickm@AAISonline.com or by calling 800/564-2247.
