Assistant Vice President, Compliance

Purpose of Job

To review all legislative and regulatory changes and using that information create and maintain the required amendatory endorsements, notices, and other items for all AAIS programs.  To obtain the needed information regarding these changes as early as possible and respond quickly so that affiliates have compliant endorsement in a timely manner.

To contact insurance departments and negotiate compliance issues that impact AAIS and its affiliates.  Determine the best course of action to resolve compliance issues.

To manage the State Filing process, including providing guidance to Filing Specialists during filing process.  Monitor adherence to follow-up procedures to assure approvals in the shortest possible times.

To manage the activities of the Filings & Compliance Specialists, including prioritizing projects for efficiency and to meet AAIS goals.

To make recommendations for changes to existing products and to assume development of materials and filing set-up when appropriate.

To seek out opportunities for custom compliance or product development assignments.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Manage and direct the activities of all filings and compliance specialists
  2. Track filings status and status of internal objections responses and follow-up with DOIs or internal personnel as appropriate.
  3. Review objections to filings received from DOIs. Respond as needed or refer to PDS or Actuarial when appropriate.
  4. Perform research for tracking and analyzing regulatory and legislative changes and their impact on AAIS products.
  5. Respond to compliance related questions posed or research requested by PDS and Marine personnel to assist them in setting up filings or to respond to objections
  6. Develop and revise amendatory endorsements, notices, etc, for all AAIS program as needed.
  7. Review new program changes to uncover potential compliance issues that could delay approval of filings and make recommendations for changes.
  8. Draft and issue compliance bulletins to introduce revised amendatory endorsements and to provide affiliates with information to assist them in their compliance efforts.
  9. Development of materials and filing set-up for PDS or custom projects as requested.
  10. Attend NAIC meetings to network with regulators.

Competencies Required

4 year college degree with minimum 5 - 10 years of insurance compliance and state filings management experience, preferably in areas including AAIS major lines of business; CPCU designation recommended or be within a program. JD a plus. Requires computer literacy and ability to review and understand regulations and statues and to draft appropriate policy language. Ability to communicate effectively and produce accurate amendatory endorsements and bulletins
