Cargo and
Logistics in Today's Economy

Steven Baker |
Steven Baker, senior economist, FedEx
As the economy slowly emerges from recession, the domestic
transportation industry needs to address shortages and bottlenecks
that have direct impact on cargo and warehousing risks insured by
inland marine carriers. Steven Baker, an economist with FedEx and a
member of the National Association of Business Economics, will
analyze current economic trends as they affect shippers, motor
carriers, warehouse operations, and their insurers.

Mike Cobb |
Mike Cobb, vice president of safety, security, and loss
prevention, Landstar System, Inc.
Our second speaker,
from a leading worldwide provider of transportation, warehousing
and logistics services, will address the potential impact on cargo risk
of new driver safety regulations--"CSA 2010"--that may aggravate an
already critical shortage of qualified truck drivers.
Evaluating Your Motor Carriers
Jean Gardner, Central Analysis Bureau

Jean Gardner
|
Next up will be Jean Gardner, a partner at the New York City law firm of Schindel, Farman, Lipsius, Gardner and Rabinovich, and Chief Executive Officer of Central Analysis Bureau, Inc., a well-known provider of financial and safety monitoring for insurers of motor carrier insurance.
For years, Jean and the CAB have compiled and
analyzed authoritative information needed to evaluate the financial
condition and risk profile of motor carriers.
Her expertise is needed now more than ever since
the rules of financial reporting have changed. She will share her
insights on what data and information insurers should be looking for
as they evaluate insured trucking operations for their ability and
commitment to limit loss.
Insuring Logistics
Robert Guevara, AAIS vice president of inland marine

Robert Guevara |
Today's commerce is characterized by an
increasingly seamless integration of transit, warehousing, and
processing risks.
Robert Guevara will conclude the morning part of
the inland marine program by describing AAIS policy forms
he is developing for insuring logistical
operations. The new materials will be released in the AAIS Inland
Marine Guide. The inland marine track continues after lunch with a roundtable discussion led by Bob Guevara, who will discuss proposed updates and revisions to the
Inland Marine Guide and AAIS output programs, and invite attendees to offer their feedback
(see below).
TUESDAY AFTERNOON, APRIL 12
Inland Marine Roundtable
Bob Guevara will lead a roundtable discussion describing what he envisions for the Inland Marine Guide and Commercial Output Program in the coming months. He invites you to respond with your thoughts on what you would like to see as a priority.
